Ethereum for Anti-Ageing
‘Vitalik Buterin’, the co-creator of Ethereum crypto platform and the co-founder of Bitcoin magazine has donated around $2.4 million worth Ethereum to leading Silicon Valley non-profit organization ‘SENS Research Foundation’ (SRF). The foundation is responsible for research on methods and techniques to help cure diseases of ageing. The organization is led by famed gerontologist Aubrey de Grey, who is also a charismatic speaker.
Few months back in December, privately owned nonprofit organization ‘The Pinepapple Fund’ donated $2 million worth Bitcoin to SENS Research Foundation in two phases. On several occasions, Aubrey de Grey has referred to “escape velocity”. The idea of escape velocity is as long as your body can survive and be healthy up to the point that these treatments are completed, and then you could effectively live forever. The concept is also tied into the name of the foundation ‘SENS’ which stands for strategies for engineered negligible senescence, ‘Senescene’ meaning the process of aging.
Vitalik Buterin quoted,
“I've been a fan of Aubrey's work since I first read Ending Aging when I was a teenager, and I am happy to have been blessed with the opportunity to personally support SENS's efforts. Their focus on creating solutions to the diseases of aging, one of the greatest problems facing humanity, is very much in line with my goal to positively impact the lives of millions of people around the world.”
Mike Kope, CEO of SENS Research Foundation said in a press release,
“SENS Research Foundation is honored to be the recipient of Vitalik’s incredible generosity. This was his second donation to us in 2017 and his support is critical to SENS Research Foundation's expansion of our programs. Our work to cure the diseases of aging is dependent on the generous support of our donors and we appreciate his support tremendously.”
